I have an OEM tow hitch I plan to install on my 99 XJ. Got JCR nutstrips. All I need is a break in the weather so I can get wrenching. My questions is regarding the wiring. The OEM connector is on the hitch. Must I go to the dealer for the harness or will aftermarket one's work?

Looks easy enough, but the OEM 7 pole plug mounted on the hitch won't be plug & play. It looks like I would need a 4 pole flat to 7 pole adapter on the Jeep side, as well as a 7 pole to 4 pole flat adapter on the trailer side.
It also appears that all of the adapters go between the hatch seal and over the bumper. I was hoping for a "cleaner" install, having the wires hidden. Any ideas on this?

4 wires are standard trailer wire colors......white/ground, brown/running/tail, green/right blinker/brake and yellow/left blinker/brake. Google 7 pin wiring from there.
