Default Rear ended, hatch wont open

Yeah...some drunk guy didn't stop the gas after I pulled him out, rear ended me. The hatch is really minorly pushed in, unevenly, but it won't open. Anyone got any good ideas to get the thing open? Once I get it open I can get it all fixed easy. I'll get a pic tomorrow if I can't manage to open it.

Well, I like the kicking idea. I'm gonna try avoid a pry bar though haha.

Also, do you know what the trim piece above the license plate is called? I'm having a hard time finding anything on Ebay, mines a little busted...

No idea, sorry.

If the latch is stuck you should be able to access the guts from the inside by pulling off some trim.

Got it open with some pliers on the latch mechanism from the inside. Basically it was pushed so far out of alignment that the latch handle was barely pulling up on the latch. Got the hatch looking relatively normal with a prybar and hammer. Lotta chipped paint though...gotta do more bedliner lol.
