R u going to test both stats together for a comparison?????? I would at least test the new stat before the install.

I took some nifty photos of a crescent of light coming through what ever was I got from Napa. No point in looking for them again, it's just a little crescent of light coming through. It's not so cold here, but my first 10 minutes is steep down-hill. Honestly, with the struts now bent straight so it seats right, I think it's good to go. I saved it for a replacement for the Mopar.

 

Alright guys, calm down lol. I got some updates, with a twist. So I boiled the new Mopar (now MotoRad..) stat in water...starts opening right around 195 and fully open around 208 degrees. I went to put it in, and guess what. The NAPA T-stat is also a MotoRad. The only difference is the jiggle pin, which the new one has. So now I have the same problem of little heat--my core is clogged again. Leftover mud from the previous owner still working it's way out after I redid the system last year.

I haven't boiled the old one yet, but I'm sure it's just about the same. I will do that this evening and report any different.

 

Less than 2 months on the New Mopar T-stat and it stuck closed !
So now gonna put in a STANT since I've tried every other brand out there.
I will NOT go back an spend another 25 bucks at dealer!

btw:Exc coolant mix with temps overnight in the teens last night , daytime 20-40s not uncommon and not real cold this week for Colorado.

 

Thanks for the info......r u placing the stat in boiling water or r u placing the stat in water and bringing the water to a boil?

 

Did u possibly test the Mopar stat to verify malfunction?

 

Put the stat in room temp water and brought it to a boil.

I am pretty sure that's it though, since I had no heat at all. Top hose sprang a nice leak of steam too.

 

Sounds like stat is open (at least some) if steam is coming out of top hose.

If it was overheating 2 months ago with whatever stat and overheating again with a new (Mopar) 2 month old stat.......the overheat may not be caused by the stat.
