I saw my local jy had a 98 XJ freshly in stock, as that is my vintage I took a look.
Found it had this skidplate looking thing. Is it worth having? I thought about grabbing it, but worried that it may trap too much heat in the engine compartment.

Is it worth 40$ for a backup PCM that you have no idea of knowing if it works? I thought about grabbing that too.

Heat rises, if you want to help cool, get some hood vents.
The skid helps protect the steering components. Kinda useless with a lift bigger than 3 in or so.
