Quote: If your rig (97+) has the factory fog light pigtail behind the switch blank you can get an OEM switch, and wire it up like this:

Orange - This is the illumination wire, you can tap into another orange wire in the switch panel

Light Blue - This is the switch output, send this wire to the input wire of the foglight relay.

Violet - Connect to a fused 12v, or ignition source. If you'd like similar stock operation, you can connect this to the parking light output so that if you leave the switch on it will only get power when lights are on.

Black - Connect to a ground

Make sure you run a relay to your fog lights if you go this route, the oem switch CANNOT handle the current that aftermarket lights pull. I'd also run some 12g or at least 14g wire.
Doesn't the OEM setup use a relay? I'm about to add LED lights off the factory fog harness. I sourced an OEM switch and I have the factory pigtail/plug right there at the switch panel. My Jeep is an SE.. I checked the PDC and I have 2 spaces there for fog relays that are empty/unoccupied. They are labeled "FOG 1 & FOG 2". My question is what is the difference and if I add a relay will this setup work?

Did you ever find an answer to this? I'm looking to do the same thing.

I believe, if not mistaken, that the reason so many own fog switches burnt out, and people had other problems with the oem wiring, is because there wasn't a relay present on the circuit.

I would not trust the oem fog wiring, many will tell you the same. Just wire up a new one to an oem male plug using the color code posted above, then run the switch wire to a new relay in the engine bay.

Quote: You both are right, it would b stupid to spend that much when I could do it myself. Any ideas on lights that would fit in the bumper cut outs?
Cruise some junkyard for a vehicle with factory lights ...... buy them! ( they'll fit just fine )

A lot of Jeep wiring issues could be prevented with the addition of a relay.

Had to replace a headlight switch assembly and harness connector ..... new install included a relay to take the current off the switch.

HVAC blower fan is a similar issue ...... surprising how many are riding around with the connector on that switch burned and melted .... they just don't know it YET !!!

Quote: I found an OEM fog light wiring kit for $99. It is only the wiring. No lights or switch. The kit will wire it from bumper to switch. I was wondering if anybody has installed this kit, how hard/easy was it, recommend/not recommend, etc.

I put factory fogs in an '00 that did not have them. Did a write up. The links died, been meaning to go in there and just list part numbers. Thinking this might help you.

EDIT:
Went and replaced all the broken links with part #'s. Hope this helps somebody.

Just posted it on this site too.

I bought an aftermarket switch for my aftermarket LED's and it only has three wires: Red, black and white. The white goes to the relay, and so I guess the switch is only illuminated when the LEDs are on and no illumination when the headlights are on, I would assume?
