i plug in my scanner and it doesnt power up i have also tried other scanners i was told to check pin 16 for power and it has power any ideas?

 

Have you performed a very close inspection of all of the contacts on your OBD connector?

 

yes i have i read pin 4 and 5 should be a good ground using my volt meter i use pin 16 for power and i get nothing with pin 4 or 5 as a ground

 

I'm not familiar with the '95 DLC pin 4 & 5 ground point, but '97 & up the ground point is at the oil dipstick tube support bracket stud. Corroded ring terminals have been found here, as well as one owner finding that the ring terminal wasn't even hooked up.

Do you get battery voltage when you from 16 a ground point in the cab, such as the gas pedal attach bracket nuts?

 

yes i get 13.7 while running from pin 16 and i just changed the motor ill have to check the ground there
