I've been looking at way to approve efficiency of my 2 Door 99 XJ and can't remember if I've ever replaced any of the 02 sensors. So, seeing that the upstream 02 sensor can help improve mpg efficiency I'm immediately curious.
That is, if the upstream is the one I want to swap out.
And would this one here get the job done?
Cheers!

Yes, it's the upstream sensor that matters to your efficiency. See here for a short explanation.
Yes, NGK is definitely the brand you want.
For reasons not understood by anyone I know of, our Jeeps can be very picky about sensors. The two most sensitive are the CPS and the O2 sensors. Temp sensors, oil pressure, maybe you can get by with aftermarket.
Never go cheap on the CPS or hte O2.
NGK is who made them for Mopar. If they aren't Mopar branded, they had better be NGK.
By the way, a tip on getting the old one out: Heat.
Either from a torch, or running for a half hour. It's almost impossible to get them out of a cold pipe.
