i replaced my o2 sensors and completely rebuilt my exhaust and when i had my check engine light turned off ( all codes o2 related) and an hour later the light kicked back on and cause bad surging. afterwards it would surge badly shortly after starting, then stop and ride fine. it will only surge real bad 5-10 minutes after start up then stop. any body else have this problem im starting to get irratated chasing this gremlin.

 

did you use an oem o2 sensor or some cheap ones.

How much modifying di you do when installing your new exhaust. I've heard the newer XJs like yours with the 2 O2 sensor set up, have to have a cat in the exhaust system. If you remove it, that can cause problems. I would also read your new O2 sensors out. You can get a bad one new from a parts store. That is exactly what your surging problem sound slike to me. The ECU is getting bad input from a sensor and can't get the mixture right.

what did the codes say

 

the codes i got were o2 bank 1 high voltage, o2 bank 1 low voltage, o2 bank 2 low voltage, lean gas mixture ( makes me run rich). and by the way brand new o2 (Both) and Brand new catalytic converter... maybe map sensor?
