So I replaced my NSS today because I had a P0705 code, the Jeep wouldn't shift right, and the reverse lights were out. From what I've read, the NSS is pretty much the only cause.
However, after driving it for a little bit the CEL is on again, the reverse lights still don't work, but it shifts like it should. When I checked the codes after replacing the NSS it threw P0705 again. I cleared it and turned the jeep off and let it sit to see what would happen after turning it back on. I turned the key and the CEL is still on. I hooked up the scanner again and there are no codes that I can find, but the CEL won't go away. I would also like the reverse lights to work again.
Anybody have an idea where else to look? I don't know if this matters at all or if it is just a coincidence, but I only started having problems after I cleaned the ground for the headlight because the driver's side was super dim...

Are you sure that it is correctly adjusted? One quick way to tell would be to get someone else to look at the rear lights and see if the reverse lights come on at any point. That or put it up by a wall when dark and try the same.

Update: **** this stupid ****ing piece of **** and it's ***** mother, bastard father, and mother****ing brother. I hope it burns in the fires of hell.
I went out for the night and leaving home it drove great. Shifted just dandy; but when I drive home it is having the same issues as before. So it must not be the NSS. What could be causing this?
I had someone check it as I adjusted and there was nothing. It doesn't have a lot of adjustment after all, but the reverse lights didn't turn on even for a split second. There has to be something else wrong with the rig, but I have no clue what could be causing this.

I replaced mine not to long ago. Adjusting correctly will have your lights back and my cel came on like yours. So I erased the code and I readjusted my detent/tv kickdown cable. Issue stopped and shifts normal.

So after taking a breather I got back in to it and adjusted the tv cable to a positive effect so far. I also replaced the fuse in the number 10 spot and I have reverse lights again.
I still have a code however, and I can't get it to go away. If I clear it, turn the power off and then on again, the CEL will be right back on again. What else could be causing the code since I'm not having any off the issues?
