Probably not doing anything wrong.
Some Blaster on the shaft won't hurt anything, switch may just disintegrate anyway. When you go to the boneyard for the replacement take the blaster with you, but those may just turn to dust as well...

Thanks for the responses!
I did exactly this. Tried using two screwdrivers on nut and nothing. Took large pliers and grabbed body of NSS and tried to pry it off that way.
I really didn't think I was doing it wrong, but it won't budged. In the video Dumajones posted Matt says something to the effect of "unless you live in a rust belt.." Which Vermont definitely is.. It's got PB on it now and I'll hit it again before I quit for the night. I'd be amazed to find another one at the JY that's going to be usable.. Saddest..
Won't that cause no reverse lights?
To the best of my abilities I pulled very straight. It's just stuck for now I guess.. Better tools would be helpful... Mmmm... Barbecue....
I can leave this for you to watch..

Down about 1/2 way he shows his way, and comments it's important to keep it straight as well....no bind. > http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neut...ty-switch-nss/
Guys also have shimmed it out while tapping on the end of the shaft to tease it off.

Ayup! Time to let it sit for the night and get my drank on!
I had the same issue, but solved it. I messed up the nut a little bit getting it off, and it would always bind up halfway off the shaft. It's the small amount of rust that holds it there...but you can win as long as you keep at it.
To fix it, I would PB blast the shaft and start prying it off. Once it seized up, I knocked it back towards the tranny with a socket/hammer. Repeat until it finally pops off. This way, you're slowly working it back further each time. Similar to how you would remove a really rusty bolt - by working it and working it back and forth.
