Ok so i went the the jy the other day and picked up a nss got it home cleaned it up did everything to get it going. My question is ......

I hooked it up before i climbed under the truck tobsee if it would work and nothing does it have to be bolted to the truck before it works or what?

Temp fix i just put a switched 12v wire into the wire conecter and now any time i back up flip the switch and bam there we go

My other question is if i just cut the wire and do a permanet wire job would this work?

NSS must be installed.

Follow the procedure in this link and you should be good to go. Good luck!

If you jump the terminals B and C on the engine side of the weatherpack connector, you can bypass the NSS all together. Only draw back, it WILL start in any gear. But if you got your wiring set up correctly, you can install an emergency bypass switch.

I guess a better way to ask is does the nss have to.be instaled.to work. To me you would think you could just hook it up under the hood turn with your fingers and see if back up lights come.on

Nah, I think the body of the switch needs to be grounded and the best way to do that is to install it.
