Default 1988 Speed Sensor

I'm missing a sensor of some sort at the rear of the transmission. It looks like it'd bolt into the case just forward of the transfer case. Is this the speed sensor? If so, where can I get the correct part? It looks like there are a ton of differnt ones floating around online.

88 uses a mechanical gear which rotates a cable attached to the speedometer.
I can send you that too...
4.0/auto/3.55s?

Yes they do in the extension housing of the transmission where the transfer case bolts on, its what tells your computer controlled trans when to shift

I'm sorry, I don't have a picture. Someone has cut the trans harness in 2 places on this rig. There is a set of 2 wires going into a connector, the two wires exiting the other side have been cut. These wires extend towards the rear of the transmission and there are what appear to be two holes in the case just before the transfer case. I'm assuming that a sensor of some sort goes there. If I could be more helpful I would.

I'm seeing two very distinct answers here, a yes and a no. If it's not a speed sonsor per say, what else would there be towards the rear of the case with a pair of wires running to it?

and sorry, but I retract my previous statement, I will not get it for you.
It was all I could do just to find the fricking thing and put my finger on it.

the 88 FSM also mentions it.
What about the kickdown cable hold down bolt? lol I'm desperate for parts. There's some previous owner *** that needs kicking in Alabama if anyone wants to come down...

So...I see that it does in fact exist...Anyone know of a better place to get one than new from Rusty's? Even though I'm 30 minutes away it'll cost me $30 to ship it I'm sure...
