Default Is the NSS my culprit

My gas guage is off and I actually ran out a few days ago. While I was coasting I tried to restart it in neutral but nothing happened. I had to stop and put it in park before it would crank. Would the NSS adjustment possible cause this? I had recently removed and cleaned it, but it starts fine and my reverse lights work so I assumed it was adjusted correctly. Any ideas?

If it's working fine now and the only time it didn't work was when you were coasting in neutral then no.

If it normally works fine I might hold off, but if it's clean and causing a problem I would check the adjustment. In any case I guess any NSS thread should have a link like this;

Was thinking, wondering if that OBD II of yours won't crank if the speed sensor is ratting you off. Easy enough to check if it starts in neutral parked, but not when you are roiling.

This was my thought, was tempted to go try it in mine.

And "upon further review"...I sure hope not. Could be a death sentence on the freeway!

It won't crank in neutral when stopped either.

Bottom of the link in post #6 says:

"Finally, I shut it off in Neutral and tried to start it up again. No start. Fail.

So I loosened the retaining bolt, rotated the NSS clockwise a little bit, and re-tested. Start in Park, check. Reverse lights in Reverse, check. Start in Neutral, check. "

That was my issue. Rotated it forward just a bit and now it starts in P & N. Reverse lights works as well. Glad I discovered and fixed it before I really needed it.
