np242 t-case rebuild question
I got a free 242 from someone and apparently it doesn't work in 4-hi but everything else is good.
It's off a 95 xj and had approx 130,000 miles on it. What's the best rebuild kit for the money.
I've never done it before it's just a fun little project for learning purposes. I plan on selling it after I'm done I just don't know if it'd be worth rebuilding if I won't make any money on it.

Before investing in a kit tear it down and inspect it. This includes the differential. If the differential is shot, the whole TC is beyond economical repair.
Get a FSM for your XJ. It will show you how to do everything.
Edit: And you will need special tools to get the job done correctly.
