I'm in need of a replacement transfer case. It's a 92 XJ and currently has an NP231 in it and I've found one for sale that has already had an SYE done to it (not hack and tap). Question is..... the one for sale came out of a Wrangler and it's going into a Cherokee. Are they interchangeable? The price is pretty good. He's selling it for $300 and most the JY ones I've found are the same price however they don't have the SYE done.
Thanks in advance.

is the year of the wrangler one close to the year of yours? they have the same deals as ours with different spline counts and stuff. usually, if htey are close in years they will work

that reminds me that when the xjs switched to the 4.0 HO motor the t-case switched to the 23 spline. im not too familiar with yjs except that my buddys 92 yj has a 231 in it

I haven't pulled it yet, but it's got two areas of the case that are completely missing. Sections are at the bottom of the case right where the chain is and you can see the chain clearly. There are two 2"X 4" pieces of aluminum completely blown out of the case. Looks like something came apart and flew through it. Front end is locked up. I think the transfer case is pretty much toast. Maybe some of the internals could be used. I don't know.
