Default NP231 tail shaft (cone)

So when I bought my xj, the driveshaft was laying in the hatch. The lady had grenaded a U-Joint and the shaft had came out. I pulled the old U-Joints, put new ones in, got new U-Joint straps for the diff yolk, went to put the driveshaft in and as I slip the driveshaft onto the out put shaft of the T-Case I realized something was missing. I stared at it for about 10 minutes before figuring out that it was the tail shaft or cone, what ever it is called, had been taken out by the driveshaft as it came out. I am having a hard time locating a replacement. Where can I find one cheap?

Any help is appreciated,
Mat

I think what you're referring to is the slip yoke.

This is what the factory rear driveshaft should look like

No, I have the entire drive shaft. It is the output cone cap off the transfercase. The output shaft sits inside of it and the driveshaft slides into it.

*EDIT* Figured out it is called the rear extension housing. Is there a way to delete this?

Ohh okay. You could swap it to a fixed yoke style, like the front. Usually this is only done to correct driveshaft vibrations involved with lifting. They're called slip yoke eliminator kits, or SYE

Your best bet would probably be just finding a used part from Craigslist or a junkyard
