NP231 stick and auto the same?
Are there any differences betwen a 231 behind an automatic and a 231 behind a five speed? The reason I ask is I'll need to find a 23 spline 231 input shaft when I do the ax15 swap. Thanks!

There might be a difference in the length of the input shaft on the T case, but but i am not 100% sure on that one, i'm sure somebody will have a straight answer for ya.

Right, I understand there are different length input shafts between models, but I'm wondering if there's a difference in the imput shaft of an auto or a stick. Basicly will a 231 out of a 92 cherokee with an auto bolt up to a 92 cherokee with the ax15. is the imput shaft the same size, length, and spline count between the two transmissions.

yes they are different the autos have a 21 spline and the manuals have a 23 spline. another thing to look for if you have a old cherokee is if its a late or early model 89 because thats wen they changed the trannys.
