Default Np231 not shifting

Hey everyone just replaced my chain in tcase and went to put tcase in neutral to reinstall front ds and it won't shift into 4wd at all. I still haven't put fluid in it yet. Could this be reason why it's not shifting? Didn't want to put it in yet until the sealer hardened some. If not what else should I look at? I never touched the linkage and tcase stayed in jeep while replacing chain any help and pointers would help alot

I think you may be jumping the gun. They don't like being shifted standing still with no lube.

Ok that's what I was trying to ask before I tore it back apart. If I put fluid in and still nothing what would be next to look at?

You might try pushing the Jeep back and forth just to move things a little (the rear driveshaft is installed, yes?).

Yea it is front ds isn't yet coz I realized the tcase wouldn't go into neutral to spin yoke. I drove it a little bit and still nothing. Didn't put fluid in it yet going to try putting fluid in it and install front ds and see if it shifts then. If not idk what to look for.

Didn't you JUST rebuild it? Are you a masochist?
