np231 fluid swap
So I just changed my t case fluid to find it had what may as well be no fluid whatsoever in it. I filled it up and it drives about the same, maybe a little smoother. What Im wondering is if the pump for the t case could have burnt out from running without fluid? I smelled the drain plug hole and it had no burnt fluid smell, and everything looked ok from what I could see. Any help appreciated, thanks

..... is this a trick question? there is no such thing as a t-case fluid pump that sits inside the t-case.... the fluid just splashes around and lubricates via contact from the chain and such

Don't know how low would be an issue.
Running it dry would toast it for sure.

wow.. i'm surprised... never realized there was a pump in there.... i always thought they liked em because the 4wd was selectable... but if ya wanna buy a new pump... here's a site:
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/oil-pump-4338936.html
but for that price if your pump has failed... (i've never heard of anything related to fluid not transitioning around in the t-case ever going bad) i'd just buy another t-case from the pick n pull or Craigslist for $100 +/-
