Default NP 231 spline count

Is there a way to get a spline count without removing the t-case. Im pretty sure mine is crap. I put it in 4wd it makes an awful noise. So I put it up on jackstands and took out the front drive shaft, put it in 4 wheel again and the noise was steal there. Its sounds like theres marbles inside of the t-case. I could always take it apart and see if its a gear chewed up or if maybe the chain broke, but its my DD and I can chance that Ill take it apart and something break and then Ill be without a truck. Its not like I can just walk to a Advance Auto, those arent easy to find in S. Korea. But I can just buy one off of ebay and slap it in there

I dont know what iirc is, but my XJ is a 93 with the 4.0 and an automaic, if that makes a difference.

before you swap the case make sure its engaging in 4wd. there is adjustment on the t-case it self I'd start there.

it engges, before I dropped th shaft I used it and you could feel it pull, but like I said, it sounds like somebody through rocks into a wood chipper or something, its depressing having a 2wd XJ. I haven't even told anyone I dropped my drive shaft because I'm embaressed.

23 spline but they come in 3 different lengths so you may have to swap the input.
