Default Now I'm annoyed..

My 89 cherokee I put a motor in it and since then it when thru 2 autozone cps's
I finally got one from the dealer "it was only a extra ten bucks btw"
last week parked it and next morning it would not start.
I grab it with the tow truck back to the shop again.

I hooked up my spark gauge and noid lights and fuel pressure gauge with my remote starter button.
I turn the key to run position and with a big grin on my face I hit the starter button while watching my diagnostic tools to see whats going on for a no run condition and whatta you know it fire's right up.

This jeep dose not seem to want me to find the problem What gives?

it cranks several revolutions kinda slow btw and has a new starter and battery and cables.

Dont you love renix XJ's?

I have no advice cause i came to the point of not getting my 88 running longer than 30 secs so i stripped it and parted it out. It lives on in my 95

Tell me about it.. Now I can't get it to not run but I know when my wife uses it again She's gonna be calling me for the tow truck because she will be stuck at home or work.

It's aways when it gets parked and then a few hours later no start.

last time at her job I shot starting fluid in it and it still didint pop over.

I know this is hard to figure out with the little info I can give here.
But anybody else experience this and what was done to correct it?

Well you know the procedure of testing all the sensor with a voltmeter?

sounds like a spark problem so could be crank position sensor or camshaft position sensor

Just keep in mind a renix usually takes about 10 seconds to start.
Are you sure its the CPS and not a intermittently failing coil? Maybe its time to start looking at that.

It will run without the cam sensor (unplug it and try it...) but not very well. I can post the page of the manual where it says that.

Cam sensor doesn't control spark.

To the OP... intermittent problems suck, I would repeat the conditions it normally acts up with to make sure it messes up when testing

Coil itself?

My ZJ did that for some time. Turns out part of the wiring harness had come loose, leaned up against the exhaust manifold, melted the loom and shorted the wire to the cps. But it was intermittent, and kept blowing the ASD fuse.

Now is where I feel bad, I had a renix sitting in my garage, and I dont even know if it has an ASD, lmao.

Thanks Dan, I feel cursed just for reading this.

Well I'm going to get into it after work today.
All I know is it's doing this crap ever since I swapped the motor and it's definitely electrical.

hmmmm.... this morning it fired right up.
I let my wife take it. I'm sure I'll get a call at some point today it's not starting.
I just need this thing to stay not starting so I can diagnose it lol
