Hey guys,

I was getting my truck ready for tomorrows ski trip while listening to music with my window down. After I was done I went to put my window back up, but it only made it about half way before I heard a snap and it slid back down in the door housing. Now when I use the switch all I hear is grinding and spinning. I took off the door panel hoping to understand how it works, but I'm clueless. Has anyone had this problem?

broke window regulator push the window back up and stick something under it to keep it up tight and go sking fix it when you get back

 

Here's a picture of a power window set up not entirely unlike yours.
Motor on the bottom, window mount on the top, the u shaped piece is a tube with a worm gear in it that extends to push the window up. It sounds like your motor casing is broken or the teeth on the gears are broken.

 

It was the window regulator 170$ Canadian for the part
