Default Not sure what the codes mean.

Two days ago I had a friend hook up his scanner to my Jeep because the check engine light had come on. 2 codes came up they were P1494-leak detection in pump presser switch or mechanical fault and P0463- fuel level circuit A high level input. I'm not sure what they mean. If anyone can help me with this please due so. Thanks.

Hello, your first code p1494 is a evaporative emission fault,it won't likley affect the way it runs....Chrysler has a service bulletin #18-01-00. This bulletin wants a thorough inspection of all emission hoses(no splits or kinks) before replacing any components such as the ldp pump.
The second code happens when the pcm see a voltage that is too "high" for the fuel guage circut, Does your fuel guage work properly?
Possible causes are:
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WIRING HARNESS OBSERVABLE
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
Good luck!
TEST ACTION

Thank you so much...my fuel level gauge...well it has a mind of it's own sometimes...sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't...It was like that when I got the Jeep...It doesn't bother me..I'm not the typical blonde woman who just jumps in and doesn't pay attention to the gauge..but thank you so much for the information. It's a big help and it takes a load off my mind for the time being.

Alot of times when you punch the code into the google search bar; in this case : P1494 Jeep code : there is usually a list of people who have posted the same problem and also have people who respond to the problem in most cases give info of what to look for.

hope it helps
