I successfully converted my 89 Renix to HO. I needed the following...HO cylinder head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, throttle body, a HESCO TPS adaptor, fuel rail, and injectors...throttle cable, and kickdown cable...not as difficult as I thought it would be, and the torque difference is noticible. You still used the Renix computer and wiring.

They are divided;
Renix 87-90
H O 91 on til the last group which are the coil packs.
Cant remember but I think your Jeep is the last of the H.O.s.

I have an 88 cherokee that I deliver mail with. Old motor spun a bearing so I went to a junk yard and picked up a motor for $500.
Got home and noticed it was a high output 4.0 so I did the swap. I had to switch all the sensors over to the new block....had to install a new tranny kickdown cable in the tranny from a high output because mine was too short. I didnt know about the hesco tps connector when I did this last year so I modified my stock tps sensor to work with the new throttle body. I took off the entire emissions system. (sure cleaned up the engine compartment!)
I might be forgetting some other stuff I had to do but the jeep runs great with the new setup. The power difference is very noticeable. It was a great upgrade.

So if I read this correctly if I pull my Non HO renix engine out and replace it with a HO motor I can reuse the computer and wiring and just need the Hesco TPS adapter? Doesn't sound too bad, plenty of HO engines around here. My renix engine just blew the rear seal I believe and the CPS is dying I think.
Well according to the previous owner of mine, The motor spun a bearing was was replaced by a 93 motor, and they swapped everything over so it was just the HO block and head and all renix everything else, Im reading what he told me was BS right? I know it has a Renix oil filter adapter etc on it, Im thinking its just an older motor, Where are casting numbers on these things or anything else I can use to verify year on block and head
