I have an issue with the check engine light not coming on. Sounds odd but when I turn the key to the "ON" position only the brake light and washer fluid light come on when they all should come on as a "test". There is a code (p1698) and my reader says "mil on" so the check engine light should be on.

I replaced all the bulbs and now the cel and service engine soon light are lit at about 10% of what they should be. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

 

like not very bright or not on long?

 

they were off completely until I put in new bulbs now the check engine light and service engine soon light are "not bright" you can barely tell there on.

 

all other lighs bright? correct bulbs ...

 

I swapped the one out of the washer fluid light, which I know works and is bright (because its on all the time). And it still was not bright. I swapped several bulbs and still nothing.

Are there any relays or fuses I can check? Ground? I looked and the only ground I could find that looked funny was a purple with yellow stripe wire that was bolted to the top back of the valve cover.
