No, that switch will do nothing. You are finding out what $200 gets you. The JY may offer you more than you paid for it.

I have fixed this issue it was very low on fluid but now I have ran into yet another issue the cooler line to the radiator has a hole in it so its off to the scrap yard again. Also what does your xj run for an average coolant temp

The reason I ask his location is that perhaps someone here on CF who is located near him, could score the XJ.

I got my '88 xj for the price of title transfer. So now in the process of getting it back on the road. Under the hood needed work. Alternator was completely seized(guy that had it kept getting pissed couldn't figure out why if he didn't start it every day, sit for 3 his battery had a bad cell) from full draw. Plus a cracked power steering pump. So for 250.00 (new alternator, power steering pump, and changed the starter{original to vehicle} engine turned over. Did other various work under the hood so far(vacuum lines and pressure lines, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, coolant) the vehicle sat for 10 years. It fires like a top....first crank.

I have been having issues where the engine itself is overheating but upon inspection I found out the thermostat never opened the radiator loop. So I did take it out and it now doesn't even seem to climb past 150 and I'm happy with that as I live in a fairly hot climate so should never be cold blooded. Also while I was under the hood I wired the electric fan to a toggle switch. Seems to be pretty happy. On to the next problem no 4wd but this is a simple issue I belive. Just cracked vaccum line. What is average oil psi on a 4.0?
Thanks
