No temp reading and check engine light
I just finished replacing the trans in my 94 xj. Ever since everything has been working fine except my temp gauge doesn't move and my check engine light comes on a few minutes after driving and its always out the next time I start it. I don't know if these are related in any way but any help on what to test would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need any more information. Also is a jeep dealer about the only place I can get an obd 1 system read?

Search on how to pull OBD1 codes for jeep cherokees. Most part store manuals tell you too, simply turn the key on and off 3 times and count the # of flashes from CEL.
Also check the temp sensor on the rear side side portion of the head. I bet the sensor got unplugged when you changed the trans
