New update. I decided to clean throttle body and replaced the coil, started up with no problems.

 

hI GOT same problem. coil is only a couple years old. bright blue spark from coil wire. yellow crappy spark from plug wires. i just replaced the cap and rotor because they looked like crap, even tho they are two years old as well, and still SPARK but no start. made sure they were on tight. i don't know. i am thinking new plug wires, but i just wasted $40 for the cap and rotor (echlin), so what do you think? spray carb cleaner down the throttle body as well? it ran great yesterday, this am, no start. pouring down rain. have already refreshed the living $#i! out of the grounds and this is an 89 i am talkin @, and also replaced the dist last year. just taking a pause right now till the rain slows up or stops.

sprayed carb cleaner down there and nothing. reseated Maf? zip. has gas, pumps up and stops.

so, what is it i put on the injectors to see if they are firing? Noid light? wazzat?

 

1989 engines are entirely different beast. Lol

 

no big. if i don't get any help here i'll unhijack. yeah, i have fuel issues i think. better do me a search on that. i should have gas squirting out of that valve on the fuel rail when i push it in with the key on, and i'm gettin nothin. just dribbles out once but no spray.

thanks, but only seen you got your jeep running again is why i did. your (this) thread popped up in a search. didn't see you hadda 99 till later.. btw i got mine running too. well SISTER IN LAW DID!. soaked Air Filter! from super leaky pvc grommet. until the next time my wreck doesn't start again. wont be long. never is. allllways sumpthin!
