I just traded for this jeep,I'm having horrible luck on it already and it hasn't even been a day of having it. 1991 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4. I cannot get it to start. It drove just fine during the test drive, and on the way home. Now it won't even crank over. The fuel pump primes and I can hear the relay for it, but I don't hear the starter, the solenoid,or the relay for it. I'm lost on ideas what to look for here.

Start with the basics: clean the battery terminals and have the battery tested at a parts store.

Really weird that it test drove fine and got home then nothing. If its one thing i have found, it's eliminate one problem at a time. Start with battery connection and go from there. If you have lights..then check the starter. So on and so on.

Try starting in neutral. The neutral safety switch on these is a notorious problem child.

Got the same problem. 1991 2.5 4cylinder. Would no crank after turning it off. Fuel pump primes with the turn of ignition. No crank. Had the starter tested. Works fine. Help!!

Battery checked out on an ohm meter. Power to the starter tested as well.

IDK enough about manual transmission jeeps, but my buddy's Chevelle had a neutral safety switch on the clutch. It had to be held to the floor before the engine would crank.
