I have a 95 cherokee that wont start. I drove it to work with no problem. but after sitting 12 hrs in 5 degree snowy weather it wont turn over. I have power to everything. i even to the battery to autozone and had it checked and it was good. But the starter wont turn over either. Prior to shutting it donw my oil pressure was at 8. My question is if the engine is seized would the starter still turn over?

Your engine isn't seized; that doesn't happen when engine was running fine before turning it off.

A likely suspect is the "neutral safety switch". If there is a problem with this switch, it can inhibit juice from getting to the starter.

Try starting in neutral and also try starting while wiggling the shift lever. If either of these techniques allows the engine to turn over, you have an NSS issue. Also check your reverse lights as they are on the same circuit as the NSS.

And finally, check fuses for the starter and also swap the relay for the starter (located in the power distribution center; the black box under the hood on the passenger side)

Good luck and keep us updated!

It was the nss. Got it started on my break. Is that an easy fix or do I have to drop the tranny to fix it?

Thumbs up

The a**hole that sold me the jeep cut the wires to the wire harness and taped them together.
