I read in the Haynes manual that the CPS sends a signal to the injectors. (looked it up last night) But as you and I both know the CPS can still cause some weird problems. So who the hell actually knows not me!

ok, so this is gonna be long winded, so im sorry now lol. ok, looking at how to test my cps, and every diagram shows a flat connectoer, i have a round one, so im confused how to test my cps. and two, i tested my coil cause i thought it was bad but here is wut i got when a tested the primary windings
with the meter set to read 0-200 olms
and this is wut i got on the secondary

with it set to read 0-2000 olms, are these correct, and also my coil is cracked

thx for the help guys

The CPS connector changed alot through the years so it could be a number of different ways.
I am sorry 76 anthony lol I was just reading out of the haynes manual.

My answer would be that the long explanation Stryker gave from lunghd was for a Renix(apples) and you have a first generation H.O. so the same data is not going to hold true(oranges) The H.O. can also effect the spark. Your coil readings are adequate. CPS on a first gen H.O. controls spark, fuel injectors and also timing. It will not release those elements until the stated 300 RPM. Once that has been met by the starter spinning the engine up to start speed then the spark and juice to the injectors can be turned on. The timing is verified by the CPS and those elements are maintained by the ECU as long as the CPS continues to get the signals from the flywheel/flexplate.
Bottom line is that it is probably still the CPS causing your problem. It needs a good solid ground which is accomplished by the bolts that bolt it to the bellhousing. If they are loose or dirty it will have the same affect as being unplugged. HTH

I found this on Pirate yes I surf there too. Just never post. too scrared to post!
CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor)
$47ish autozone, can prevent spark at coil, sputtering, stalling while hot, and prevent starting.
Disconnect and check the CPS resistance. Should measure about 275 ohms resistance. Re-connect and Should generate
about 2.5vac when motor is cranking. The CPS is Located at the 10 O'Clock position on the drivers side
top of the transmission housing, held by two 1/2in bolts and feeds up to a 3 pin connector with only
two wires going to the connector. Try unplugging and re-plugging the connection a few times.
If that seems to help, bypass the connection permanently by soldering the wires, use shrink wrap to
insulate the exposed soldered connections.

OMG thank you, you actually explained this to me in a way i understand lol, so when i get more money i'll hit autozone and get a new one, and just to be sure i'll run a seperat ground line, sound good? my only problem is that the engine i dont think is spinning up to 300, like it'll spin nice but then drag down for only a split second, i'll hook up my fancy tach tonight and get a reading, which wires on the coil do my neg and pos go? thx guys
