No power to wheels
I am going to look at a '95 Laredo tonight. Supposedly it will start but has no power going to the wheels. They said that they had the same problem and changed out the transmission and transfer case. It worked for about a month and then the same problem happened again. Anything I can check quickly to give me an idea as to what is wrong? I plan to check TV cable adjustment, fluid level, color, and smell, and if it will manually shift. Any ideas what it could be or other things that I could check while I am looking at it? I have heard that using ATF-4 instead of Dextron might be the culprit too. The jeep is a two hour drive away and I would like to get some idea what I should offer for it.

It's either the transmission is shot or the D35 exploded. Either way, if it's worth a crap it should be fixable. I wouldn't pay more than 4-500 bucks if the body is in tip top shape with good tires.

That was my thought too for an offer. It has 96K miles and in a worse case I think either the motor will go in my '92 that is getting a little tired or the tranny from the 92 could go in the '95. If the D35 is bad shouldn't it still push in 4WD?
