Thumbs down

I bought the jeep at an auction and the sound system was taken out. All there was is wiring hanging there! I'm just just installed a stereo and I get no power?

tough problem, could be any number or reasons. start at the fuse box friend and check the ground connections, i'm sure if you installed the radio you can determine the problem. a little troubleshooting and a test light will get you there.

i had a simller prob in my jeep..(only i cooked a wire in the harness.) i installed a sony cd player. i just took the power wire and the memory/batt wire spliced them into one wire and hooked the wire into a slot in the fuse block that turns the power on when the key is turned on and powers off when the key is turned off...

Is it possible to run a new power wire... It seems easier to do that then it would be to trace wires... just an option...

if you do that your radio would lose memory every time you turn the key off... you would have to reprogram stations and clock every time you start vehicle...

As far as checking the fuses, the label should be right beside the slot for the fuse. It's that way on my Jeep anyway.

if your getting no power 2 the radio then either your wires are hooked up wrong or a fuse is bad in the radio or the fuse under the dash is bad. If you dont know which wires goto what then its best to have it profesionally installed many times have i seen a guy tell someone they can put in a radio for them especialy women and they endup popping fuses ripping apart someones dash making the interior look like crap running wire allover the car big fat power wires etc. There is a difference between installing a radio in a old chevy pickup then in a 2000 focus every car is not the same in delco alot of times theres a special ground like wire that needs to be connected its usaully brown and it is screwed down to the body of the radio if u dont hook the extra wire up at all or right the taillights will blow out pop a fuse everytime i figured out what to do which wasnt easy because the car was an old cabbie so the wireing was all messed up. If you want u can look up wireing charts for your jeep they have them everywere online also have a couple of 10 amp fuses handy

also check dome fuse in drivers side cab fuse block, the radio fuse it attached to that, but if you have checked radio and dome fuse understeering wheel check the OBS fuse under the hood in fuse block, its a little fuse, mine blew out one day and I payed 45 bones to have some stereo guy look under the hood and pull it out and wave it in my face

Cool

There are 2 fuseboxs in my XJ, one under the dash & one under the hood. Take the time to do it right. You will be happier.
