Default No power at headlights after battery replaced

Ok this (to me is odd) I had to replace my battery and lost my high beans. Fast forward a few months and disconnected battery again and replaced ignition switch. No I have no headlights at all. All other lights work (minus hazards but this had been ongoing) blinkers have to be blinked manually (also an ongoing issue). All fuses are good and I replaced the headlight switch. Short of hooking a togle switch directly to the battery...how can I fix this.

Have you checked to see if your headlights are blown? As for the turn signals and hazards, do they light up and stay on? If this is the case then both your hazard and turn signal flashers might be bad, it could also be that your turn signal switch is going bad.

We removed one of the headlamps last night and got it to come on with direct power from the battery. No voltage is shown at the plug. As for the turn signals they all light up and stay solid I can manually blink the blinkers.

Sounds like two separate issues.

Refresh all your connections involving the headlight harness. Trace out the harness to see if it's chafed or pinched somewhere. You may need someone with electrical experience to help you track this down with a multimeter.

This sounds like a bad flasher relay. Read this thread and see the video there:

Let us know how it turned out, so that if someone else searches for the same problem and finds this thread, he/she will have an answer.

I have replaced the flasher relay. I do have electrical knowledge. For now I am going to bypass the harness and do a toggle switch until next weekend hen I can replace the multifunction switch. Some if my problem seems to be there. When I got the jeep I had to manually blink the driver side now both and no hazards.

I might suspect the headlight switch. My 90 doesn't have relays, passes all that current through the switch. I think yours is the same.

Be careful whatever you do, you don't want to be surprised with no light!

If you are going to bypass the factory switch you really should buy a relayed H4 headlight harness. It will be safer and easier to deal with and your headlights will work better.

I didn't cut into the factory wiring I bought new plugs for the work around. Running it by the mechanic who replaced the ignition switch for me last week. to see if by chance he unplugged something. But I think it's in that multifunction switch.

Go to ground G106 on the left inner fender, next to the PCM and air filter box.

See pic.

You may want to remove the two screws, clean the ring terminals with a Scotch-Brite pad or 400 grit sandpaper, remove the rust on the fender, then reassemble securely. See if this helps.

Sounds like it.

So the mechanic forgot to plug my headlights back in at the steering column. Still need to replace the multifunction switch to repair the blinkers and hazards but I have headlights again without a toggle switch!
