Anyone have any idea why the RPMs will not go above 2000 while in gear and driving. But when in park, I hit the gas and the tachometer goes all the way up to the rev limiter.
About a week ago the distributor rotor snapped in half while driving. Could there be a link between these two instances? I replaced the distributor rotor last week and it ran ok for a few days. And now it's barely driving. I read on a forum that it might be a slipped or broken timing chain? I don't know though.
Any help would be great

If it ran okay with the new distributor for a few days, this could be something else.

I'd start with verifying fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail with a gauge.

Performing the "key-on, key-off" technique to see if there are any stored codes would also be a good idea as they can provide clues.
