Did you pack the pump with Vasoline?
Cut the handle off an old standard screwdriver and use it in your drill to prime the pump. You'll know when your moving oil because the drill will bog down.

Try replacing the sensor or using a mechanical gauge to verify the pressure.

I'm pretty sure you'd know if you really had no oil pressure. It'd sound almost like a lawn mower.

If that is what your truck sounds like and your oil filter is dry, you have no oil pressure.

I am pretty sure replacing the sensor will do anything. Take it back before installing and get your monety back.

Prime it again while someone watches the gauge with the ignition on. If you are moving oil the gauge should show pressure 9assuming the sender is good).

Was the gauge working previously?

You may have to have the key on to see the gauge move. Its electrical, not mechanical.

This sounds like you have a blockage...hopefully just a bit of sludge gumming things up.

Drain your oil, but leave the filter in. Pour in a gallon of kerosene, start it up, and watch your gauge carefully. When it starts to heat up it will zoom FAST, so make sure you're ready to shut it down before it burns up. Won't take but a half-minute or so. Check your filter. If it isn't full of kerosene, let it sit for a couple of hours, then run it through again.

Drain the kerosene and swap out the filter. If sludge is your issue, this will likely fix it. If not, your oil pump still isn't working right.

I've heard of this and using trans fluid to accomplish the same thing.

Both make me nervous.
