Whenever I've need specialty tools for a job, I've always bought them myself. Why?
- Bigger tax deduction for me. "Unreimbursed Employee Expenses" do not generally require amortization.
- I always ended up using it later anyhow. Or redesigning and using it. Or using the design of that tool to design another one for a marginally - or wholly - different purpose.
