Cool No idea where to start

Hi, I'm a new Jeep owner. I recently bought a 94 Cherokee sport and I love it. Even the first time I got into it and started it and drove there was a knocking noise coming from somewhere under the front half of the jeep, I could feel it and anybody else in it would too.
I also think I blew a head casket the other day. Was going down the road everything seemed fine and then it felt like I lost power and then gained it and it did that 3 times so I pulled over and it died. Smoke came pouring out and oil and coolant were spraying all over the drivers side of my engine bay. When I tried to start it, it made a really rough knocking sound. So I've towed it back and don't know where to start.

I really want to keep it and fix it myself because I want the experience. Can somebody please help me at least with some ideas? Thank you

Was the "oil" red? Maybe your radiator exploded.

I dont really see oil and coolant spraying everywhere unless you threw a rod through a water jacket or something, If thats the case, start looking for a replacement engine.

Take some pics for us to help better diagnose.

Finally able to put pictures on here, looks like some metal shavings under the cover. Oil all over the passenger side of the motor but none on the driver side. Was some on my filter box when it first happened, but other than that none.

Anything will help. Is there a chance there was too much oil in it ? Also my temperature gauge doesn't work and now I'm not positive if there was coolant in it.

You might start with a compression test and pressure testing the cooling system.
