Default No front drive shaft issue

I bought an XJ with no front drive shaft. It was from a dealer so the reason for the drive shaft being out in the first place is unknown. I picked up a drive shaft at a junkyard and installed it. NP242 shifts perfect, 4wd engages in all modes.

BUT now while driving I feel a rumble from underneath. I feel it slightly while driving in town, but mostly once I pick up speed to about 50+.

Any clue as to what is going on here?

99 XJ, 4.0, D30, NP242 with sye and tom woods rear DS, 5.5" lift

Had the same rumble in my 99. Ended up rebuilding the front driveshaft (including the cardan joint). That fixed it right up.

I'm missing my front driveshaft and the linkage for my TC. Hopefully after a trip to the junkyard this weekend mine will be going aswell.

I will look into that. I was thinking it was possibly due to pinion angle?

It does have adj. U/L CA's doesn't it to take care of that? If not that could be the problem or just the driveshaft as posted.

Did you grease all fittings in the double cardon joint? Got the "needle" for doing that?

How did the u-joints feel before installation of the shaft?
