The doorless jeep wranglers you speak of are just that, Jeep wranglers, which are, undoubtedly known to be driven doors on or off. I mean S**T, anyone can tell ya the most popular thing bout wranglers are the fact that the doors "COME OFF".

As for other cherokees going "doorless" ....this is where i say you miss the point. If they arent being "harassed" as the general public likes to call it, but you are, that doesnt make it legal, it just means that all of yall are breaking the law, your just the one getting caught. Just cause they dont get caught, or "harassed" as you like to call it, doesnt mean its legal.

The minivan you stated would get pulled for having no doors is infact, no different then your jeep "cherokee" getting pulled for not having doors.

Like i stated earlier, You are obviously in violation of the law, this cop who is "HARASSING" you by bringing you up to speed on the law and not writing you a citation has done you a favor by warning you, and if he stops you a 3rd time and writes you, the fault falls on you.

Basicly the facts are just that, wranglers are designed to be doorless at their drivers discretion. Your cherokee is not. Wranglers are designed to be doorless with that large entry lip for "SAFETY" purposes, your cherokee is not. Can the officer articulate that in the court of law and win, chances are very high he will.

Face it brother, laws are made to be enforced for a reason, maybe a reason you will never fully understand but they are. There is a simple solution to your situation on hand...1)put your doors on and drive like the SUV was designed, 2) buy a jeep wrangler and go doorless, 3) drive doorless in the cherokee, risk the ticket pretty much saying "F-U" to the officer who gave you 2 warnings previously and risk a citation and possible impoundment, leading to points on your record, court costs and a hefty impound fee.
I understand you and im not taking anything into offense. I wonder if you grab some of the stickers from a wrangler stating the no doors thing you get persuade the cop

anyways, since most of the people here have missed the point of the thread ill just end it on this note.

i am not, will not, or ever will change anything on my jeep because of some single ******** cop. he is the only cop in 3 counties that i regularly drive in to have any sort of issue with it (or any of the other MANY XJ's i know whol drive doorless. i will continue driving like this (until i fab up my tube doors) and fight any ticket until the end. until other cops start having issues with me, i just wont give a damn

and on the wrangler comments. they were designed to have the doors easily removable for offroad use. as far as i know they were never crash tested without doors. so in reality, they should fall under the same category and be in violation of the same law cited earlier. and IMO i personally think a doorless Xj would stand up better to a side impact crash than a doorless CJ/YJ/TJ and even JK.

like i keep hearing, the law is the law. there shouldnt be any exceptions.

Enough said!! The Cherokee WAS NEVER designed to have removable doors, either on road OR offroad! Check your state law before you get on here blasting LE for doing their job.
You don't like the law, de-register your Jeep and use it off road only without any worries!

you're in California, i dont expect you to know a thing about Florida law.

and that law says its up to the officers discretion for the ticket for "unsafe operation", it doesnt specify anything about doors. its a fight-able ticket

and im just blasting one, for being a dick.

what was the point of re quoting my wrangler comment? this thread isnt about offroad driving. the wrangler comment was to state that technically wranglers should not be allowed to drive doorless onroad either.

that kind of attitude, is what keeps allowing certain cops try and interperate the laws in there own way.

my doors are quickly removable
While my brother was at the NJ state police training facility he was told a "Brand New Car" right off the Lot could be given at least 2 tickets for something, that's messed up! if the cop wants to be a PITA he can "Find" something to write u up on...Tj

I think sflxj had it that if he was going to write you a ticket he would have already. Do you have quick removable doors or do you just unbolt them?
That's not how we think over here, cop harassment? There is only ONE solution...
