Default No dash lights

When I installed my aftermarket cd player in my XJ my dash lights stopped working along with the little clock next to the gauges. What would have caused this?

Did you check your fuses? If so make sure the lights have a good ground and 12volts.

One of the wires that hooks up to the old radio is a dimmer wire for the lights in the factory radio. You may have hooked up wires to this one by mistake and it is grounding everything out...TJ

Hey there, did this get solved for you? I have the exact same problem except the radio that I had installed worked for about a year along with the dash lights, etc. but last week when I took out the radio to "un-fish" the power lead to the GPS and put everything back in - no dash lights!

Default hmms i wonder if that is my problem

i have an aftermarket cdplayer and i guess the dash lights worked at one time with the radio in i took my dash out once to try n fix a broken power antenna and removed the cdplayer i figured its too much work so i put the radio back in and it still worked the onlything i did since i bought it was add another amp and i jumped the remote wire to the other amp idk if that would cause a short unless the remote wire is loose i have an 89 but doesnt the remote wire get hooked up to the blue on the radio??? and not factory
