No Cat??
Hey everyone I have recently purchase a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2rd 5Speed.
I have fixed an exhaust leak right at the mufler trying to make it sound a little better.
But while I was under the jeep I have noticed it doesnt have a cat on it?
This good or bad? Will I lose power? Will it hurt the engine?
Unlike other vehicles they run the oxygen sensors or atleast one off of the cat. This case on my jeep it doesnt its in the downpipe. Thats why I am wondering if it really is a bad thing or not.
Thanks guys.

Buy a high flow cat from mudfrog, clamp it in (federal law!) and be done with it. Cats are required by law on the XJ. Not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, just sayin what really needs to be done. Plus, talking about being catless on purpose is against forum rules.
Umm like I just said I just bought the jeep haha. And I didnt know it was agains the forums sorry. They can ban me from it if theyd like. Just trying to get things straighted out here. Thanks for the advise

The mods only take action when people jump on and start braggin about running catless. You're good man. Everyone starts new with an XJ, and trust me you're not the first to find the cat MIA. But I would highly suggest checkin out mudfrog's vender thread about his high flow cat. I run one, and it's only like $40 shipped. Buy 3 clamps and and adapter, cut the pipe, and BAM. Sounds good, still breathes well, and is 100% legal.

All myth. Only carbed engines need backpressure or else they can run lean for too long and burn valves because the carb can't compensate for an increased rush of oxygen. MPFI systems like on the XJ sense the lean burn and add fuel to the mix.
