I have filled before and just checked fill pressure yesterday and it is good. Clutch engages when it is blowing. Haven't checked to see if it is engaged when blowing warm. If I jump the pressure switch when blowing warm and it blows cold/engages, is that a sign of a bad switch? Can I keep it jumped till new switch comes if that is the problem?

Sounds like it's low on Freon and the core is icing up.

I checked pressure when I got home and it was pretty high. I released it to about 30ish psi and it seemed to work fine then. Perhaps too much pressure?

Usually with too much freon the compressor will try to lock up and the belt will squeal.

Maybe you need to take it to a certified AC tech and find out what is really going on, instead of all this guesswork.

For a vehicle that gets driven less than 3k miles a year I can afford "guesswork".

@ freegdr: Yeah, RoyB did hijack a thread, didn't he? Then he smarts off about my helpful suggestion. As if I knew how many miles he does or doesn't drive. It actually sounds like he can't afford a professional diagnosis.

Just Empty Every Pocket...... through 'guess work'

Edit: Not defending dumb luck guess work in anyway lol. A/C is even something I am hesitant to mess with, and I DIY (without guess work) all of my repairs/maintenance.
