Hello, I unfortunately have the "No Bus" problem with my 2001. First I cleaned the connectors behind the gauge cluster and re-assembled, still happened. Found the TSB, soldered on the 2 new female connectors behind the gauge cluster, still happened. Tried tweaking the pins to make the connectors fit tighter, still happened. Took it all back apart, cleaned, applied di electric grease, re assembled, still happened. Replaced CPS, still happening. I can't figure it out. It's getting so intermittent now it's aggravating. One thing consistent, every time it rains, or I wash the Jeep, gauges immediately go out accompanied by NO BUS and stay off for several days. I'm quite convinced it's not the connection at the cluster. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It's been doing this since I bought it 6 months ago.

 

There are 2 types of NO BUS

1. NO BUS shows on dash and engine won't run. Most common cause is a shorted crankshaft position sensor

2. NO BUS shows on dash and engine DOES run. This IS a cluster issue. I haven't personally torn one apart, but saw one thread that said something about two connectors discovered when he tore the cluster out. I'd be sure that every wire and connector is verified.
