Default No buS help

So here's the situation, I have been working on some different things on my jeep. First thing that I did was fix the wiring harness back by the top of the hatch. I drove it around just fine when that was fixed. Then I went o work on the windows trying to make it so the passengers could control their own windows. I got confused on how I was supposed to fix that. So I messed up the wiring some how. But the jeep still drove just fine. Then yesterday I Removed the sway bar and the sway bar links because the bushings are terrible, I also working with the sunroof trying to fix it from leaking. I find that the drain tube on the passengers side was being pinched by a group of wires. I placed a small clamp around it to keep it open. I then poured water on top of the jeep and wala the water was able to leak through the drain tubes fast enough so that it wouldn't over flow. Well I was pretty happy with this and I read on here that the ultimate test is to run a hose on top of the sunroof. It was fine for about a minute but then water started gushing out from the head liner over the back seat! So grabbed a bucket and just started to catch all the water. Some water also fell from over the passenger and driver side seats, but not very much. So by now your probably wondering what this has to do with the No buS, well I thought I would give you as much detail as possible. So after I let the jeep dry for a while, I went to move it and it started fine but after about three seconds it shut off and I got the no bus error..

I have tried to self diagnose the problem, I've read that since it does not run it is most likely the CPS gone bad. To check to see if that was the problem I think I unplugged the CPS plug and then I turn the ignition to on but the No bus light still came on.

Also so you know, there was no short term time where the gauges would flicker on or off, they were just dead all together except for the oil pressure gauge.

I also preformed the test to see if the Gauge cluster was working and it is.

Thank you in advance for your help, please let me know if you need any more information. Any help would be great.

Is this the CPS cable?

This is where I did the work on the window wiring. I know that I was supposed to us a crimp connecting tool. I have since done that.

Here is the work I did on the back hatch. Made my wiper back there finally work!!

This work has been done with in the last 2 weeks.

Please...Any help would be much appreciated. Could you at least tell me if the plug I disconnected was the CPS?.. It's in the first picture.

That is the CPS.

Could you restate your engine performance problem in detail and what you done so far to trouble shoot it. The mixture of tailgate wiring and engine issues gets confusing.

yes of course sorry about that. The issue is that I go to start the jeep, it runs for a few seconds then it shuts off and I get the no buS code. Only the oil pressure gauge is working. All the electrical seems to be working though.

To trouble shoot I have made sure the gauge cluster works, I have unplugged the CPS and tried to see if the error would go away. Other than that just inspected the wiring under the passenger and drivers side seats.

ok so just so I understand, to diagnose the problem I read that you can unplug each of the sensors one by one and check to see if the no bus light comes one. If you unplug one and the no bus error does not come on, that means that sensors is the one that's bad right?..

I have unplugged several of my sensors including most of the ones under the hood, and the VSS connecting to the transfer case. But after each one the error code still appears.

On trying to unplug one of the sensors it broke, can you tell me which one it is? I unplugged that one and still the no bus sign comes up.

ok looks like it is the oil pressure sensor..

So why does the oil pressure gauge still work if the sensor is unplugged? I'm really confused.

Have you done the resistance check on the CPS?
Have you checked ALL of your fuses? Relays?
If you really want to get fancy, you can check the 5V output from the PCM that feeds the important sensors needed to start the car. If one of them is not receiving 5V, it won't start.
^bunch of threads all over the internet on the above topics.

I just finished correcting my No Bus issue. It doesn't sound like we have the same problem. Mine started out as my battery voltage being too low. A CPS swap, a dealer trip, and a PCM swap still didn't fix it. I eventually found that my fuel pump relay fuse was in the wrong spot.

No more no bus!!!! I finally figured it out!! There was a problem with the dome light. I simply unplugged the wires going to it and wala no more no bus error..But now I have a check gauges error. Could that be from having the oil pressure gauge disconnected??

Thank you guys so much for your help!! No I feel I am a no bus master HaHA!!
