no bus. dead gauges. not the cps.
Title says it. No bus. Dead gauges. But I just replaced the cps. Twice. Today. Both did nothing for the problem. Starts. Runs for 1 sec then dies. Just like when the cps went out. But its not that. I've tried unplugging most sensors and still get the no bus. Please help. I need my xj running

If you have tried unplugging each of the 5 volt mgmt. sensors and this still occurs, I'd try getting a different computer in there to see if that resolves it.
A salvage yard is a good place to get one inexpensively.

Yes any of the 5 volt sensors can cause this. These are mostly the 3 wire sensors.

my favorite way to check them is to hook up a volt meter to the 5 volt wire at the MAP or TPS and if it is down around 0 then start unpluging all the rest 1 at a time till it comes back up to 5 volts. all of this with the key on! If ur 5 volts is ok- most likely its a PCM issue JMHO!!

The "no bus" is a communication failure between the computer and the display on the dash. It is a common issue with the 97-01 models and is most often corrected by pulling the gauge cluster and cleaning the electrical contacts.

This is a different situation. When the engine doesn't run with a NO BUS, it is not a dash cluster problem. It is an actual problem with something on the computer bus preventing the engine from running correctly (sensor/computer/etc)
