I have a 2000 XJ with a 4.0L auto, 100% stock, and while driving down the road yesterday, all the gauges stopped working, the airbag light, and check engine light came on, and in the odometer instead of saying the milage it says no bus. Anybody ever hear of this, or know anything about this problem? I am new here, and would just like to take a second and say the forum is awsome! So much information its amazing! Thanks in advanced!

I have the same prob in my 99 xj... but when i "fiddle" with the OBD II port, everything starts working again. it seems to be a bad or loose connection for me, i just haven't gotten around to fixin it yet cause it doesn't seem to affect how the motor works, just the dash guages. if anyone has more insight in this matter plz help.

Put the key in the ignition and leave in the "OFF" position
Turn the parking lights on (Pull the light switch out (1) click)
Press and hold the "Trip Reset" button and switch the key to the "ON" position
The cluster will "Beep" and begin it's self test. You may remove your finger from the "Trip Reset" button
Watch the pretty lights and needles move around and light up
Flip the turn signals on and verify they are working
Do the same with the headlights and the bright switch
After it is complete and you have verified that all the gauges and lights are functioning, button everything back up!
Might tell you if the tach is broken or if the needle is just misaligned.
