Default No Brake Lights

Hey I have a 93 XJ, and I have all of my lights besides the brake lights. I have replaced the old brake light switch. From some of the reading that I have done, I was led to the bulkhead connector. My issue is I cannot get the connector apart from the back of the fuse box. When I take the two bolts out of the fuse box and then loosen the bolt between the connectors nothing happens. I dont want to break the thing or cause more harm than good. Any info would be appreciated.

Check the fusable wires next to the ignition coil. They should come out of a little upright box connected to the battery. If one is stretch as heck then that's the problem. Otherwise I would assume it's a blown fuse in the fuse box (you might have already checked though) or a grounding issue. That's all the input I have.

Did you have 12V @ the switch? Have you checked the bulbs and sockets?

I fixed it. It was the wire in the bulkhead connector the pin completely fell apart when I took it apart. Thanks for the input.
