Hi everyone, so today i noticed no air was coming out of any vents in my xj. i did some research and read all about the blower and stuff and did everything i was told but nothing worked. I checked the fuse, relay and put a new resistor in. Is there anything else before I go replace the fan? - thank you

Unplug the fan connector, set the fan speed to high and check for 12 volts on the harness connector. If there's 12 volts available then it's a pretty good guess the fan is history. It went on my 96 and took out the resistor thermo-fuse with it. I was able to replace the thermo-fuse and save the resistor but the fan was R&R'd. Just for an added measure of caution I reduced the amperage of the main fuse by 10 amps. It's been working fine since I did that 4 years ago.

Does it happen to be coming out the defrost but not the vents? Sign of a vacuum leak if it is...

Have you checked for power going to the resistor pack?

Providing that this diagram is correct for your XJ, check with a multimeter the Black/Tan wire. You should find battery voltage at it. If voltage is found then the issue is on the grounding side of the circuit, if no voltage is found then it would be either a supply issue or the motor itself at fault. Unless it's just the way I read it, you say you've checked the fuse but there are 2 fuses to check, F25 - 15A on the fuse board and (Diesel) F11 40A or (Petrol) F6 40A in the power distribution center.

Thanks to Dave1123 where I found this image.
