last week me 97 xj was stolen. so naturally im looking for another. i have found one at a local dealer, its a 2000 with 125k. i believe its a low pinion d30 and an 8.25 axels and an aw4 trans. its the inline 6 and seems to be for the most part pretty clean. there asking price is $2900, thats low for the midwest so i asked if anything was wrong with it. they said that there is a cylinder that does not fire up. my question is what are the chances of this being an easy fix. i believe this one has individual coil packs for each cylinder, does that sound like the problem? anyway if you have any suggestions about how to check to see what the problem is, i would appreciate the knowledge. thanks again guys.
p.s. this thing has been sitting for almost a month so im sure i could get it for around 2,200 maby less. let me know if you think its a good deal or if i ahould keep looking.

The way to tell if it is easy to fix or not is to have them do a compression check on it,maybe they have already,if the compression is good it will be an easy fix,if it is bad it will require engine work.

It's not individual coil packs, it's one coil rail that covers all six park plugs. They are not to expensive but if that is all it is, then the dealer is probably hiding something. They would have done a repair that easy and raised the price by another $1000. Do a very thorough inspection for issues that you can see, and take it to a shop for an inspection of the drivetrain, brakes, electrical, and other systems. You have been the victim of a thief once, don't let it happen again.

Oh, now that's a different story. If it's on a small used car lot, then you can guarantee that there is more to it. Either they have no idea how to inspect a vehicle or that thing is going to be a pitfall of cash with repeated problems. Just be very careful in your decision.
